In the traditional services, we have been talking about roads we have taken that have changed our lives. I have asked us to think about life-altering events causing us to take different roads in our lives; marriage, job, job loss, military service, birth or adoption of a child, death, illness, a teacher, coach, colleague, neighbor, a “9-11”, a “Joplin tornado”, a book, a song. We’ve looked at the shepherds, Magi, Joseph and Mary, who went back “by another road”, changed by what they experienced in Bethlehem. We touched on Jesus’ baptism at the Jordan River and Jesus taking a different road from that point on. We’ve visited the Jericho Road and the Good Samaritan Story where Jesus invites us to think about our neighbor in a different perspective. We visited the 54 miles of road from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, a different road than what it was years ago when our family traveled it from east Texas to Atlanta and Washington D.C.
Now I’d like to offer an invitation for you to talk about “your roads” or your experiences that have caused you to see things differently, or walk a different road because of this or that. This Sunday, if you would like to comment briefly about some of those life-changing roads you have experienced, I would like to give you the green light to lift up an experience that has made a difference in your life. Or, if you would e-mail, or call, or let me know, so I might use it THIS SUNDAY, OR NEXT, then be my guest.
Be ready this Sunday to contribute your story; either verbally, or by getting your story to me prior to this or next Sunday. Call (334.3423, 699.2473) or e-mail pastor@bransonumc.org or come by the church office, or send me a letter.
-God’s Blessings be with you, Ross
